I'm at complete odds as to which camera to purchase for small residential refurbishment/building use. I envisage using it for water and heat leak detection, stud detection. I have scoured the internet and TBH all of the information I have found is either by sales personel or novice/inexperienced users.

If you have had any expereince with thermal imaging camera's, I'd be greatful to know the make/model and what chore it was effective for or useless at.

Also if you could state your level of competance with the camera as this obviously reflects your ability to maximise the potential of the camera.

    thanks

    What's your budget?
I have bought one for finding water leaks and air leaks. But I use it no more than two weeks.

    Thanks Penicillin,

I could be proved wrong but due to my research to date my budget would need to start around 450 and I'd be capping it at about 1200 for my first camera.
