Hi,I am planning a bathroom refurb.

The bathroom currently has mdf style panels on all the walls, they seem to be about 8mm thick and have a few metal strip joints (about one or two on each wall.

I'm planning on tiling the room. Do you think I could tile directly onto the existing panels?
Will adhesive stick to the glossy surface?
Will the metal joints (that sit 1-2mm proud of surface) cause any issues in terms of quality of finish?

No, remove them, prime the walls then tile on that.

No definitely not. It’s not designed for that purpose. Do it properly
