Hope somebody can help me with this pls..

I’ve taken my fireplace opening back to brick with the plan to install a gas fire, stove and to tile behind and on the sides of the opening to create a bit of a feature.

    Question are:
    1) can I tile straight onto brick?
    2) What type of tile would you recommend, porcelain or ceramic?
    3) What type of adhesive and grout would withstand the heat?

Below is an example of what I mean.

    Thanks
