Toilet waste hole is in the floor

Hi great plumbers

I need to know the name of the type of toilet I need. The hole is in the ground, not going out of the wall.
What type of toilet do I need? Preferably one that has the waste going out from under as I am tight for space

thanks in advance

Toilets come in two basic types P trap (out the back) and S trap (down into the floor), most tend to be P trap these days as it is uncommon now to run under floor particularly if it is a solid floor.
Trying to adapt a P trap means using adapter elbows that can be very restrictive, better to buy the right pan in the first place.;)

Seems to me that a P trap and 90 connector is quite normal (I have 3 like that at home) and it gives you a bit of fore and aft adjustment on the pan so would actually be less restrictive

The problem is virtually no-one makes s-trap toilets any more. It’s easy to fit a p-trap toilet to a vertical soil pipe but just about impossible to fit an s-trap toilet to a horizontal(ish) soil pipe, so if you want an s-trap toilet, you’ve got virtually no choice apart from a handful of specialist traditional toilet makers.

OP,
Measure the distance from the centre of the soil pipe hole in the floor to the backwall - that distance will influence your choice of WC's.

I think we're on the same journey. I have a similar issue.
Heres what I think I have learned.
S trap toilets are quite scarce. This one for example.

P trap toilets are more popular and to my findings thus far have a more modern look.
The critical input here is the set out distance of the waste pipe centre from the wall the cistern faces against. In the example above that distance is 240mm

There are many varied coupling options.
Many of which are " surface mounted " ie above ground level.
Such as

There are also offset flange options that can be used . These require floor removal local to the existing

These seem quite drastic to me and perhaps carry higher risk?

Close coupled toilets with an open back seem advantageous. This one for example. The horizontal outlet is 200mm from the cistern facing wall.
If your set out distance is less than this, this might be an option.?
In my search so far the distance shown on this loo is the most I have seen.? Its also compact which might fit the brief?

My set out distance is 225. To clear the hole in the floor I need circa 275 +

I'm also considering

The depth of the cabinet means the hole in the floor can sit inside . This one has the sink included but others without are also available.

Get back to us with that set out distance.

Use the adaptor mentioned and put a thin layer of silicone sealant around the pan spigot. This will ease the adapter onto the spigot and seal it against any niggling leaks provided that you don't pull the adapter off the spigot once it is pushed forwards.

how far is the hole from the wall?

OP,
Dont use any silicone or anything else except a splash of water.

"how far is the hole from the wall" means nothing - plumbing is worked from centres.
