Is scrap copper classed as trade waste?

Do I need a license to carry it?

Yes I think it probably is, we get rid of loads of PCs and although they end up being re-cycled they are still considered waste.

Can I have your scrap please mister?

It must be almost every day you get asked, I think I'll get a builders board made up:

    "NO SCRAP
    JUST A GRUMPY OLD PLUMBER
    NOW GET LOST

    a rather strange question

just go down your local yard and weigh it in

it's not as you are dumping it down the council tip

No it's not a strange question - strictly speaking it is waste and strictly speaking you should have a licence to carry it. But I suspect most people don't. Ignorance is no defence if you get caught though.
