transporting and removing ladders from van

    is ther a decent system out there that will allow me to remove my ladder from the roof of my van without the use of another person !or the ladder hitting me in the face ha ha

    It's called pulling it and GETTING OUT OF THE WAY.

    Depends what wan you have. I have a Citroen Relay (its very high) and I just slide it up on the back bar. But you can buy special ladder racks that bolt onto your existing rack. These are about 16" wide and come in various lengths. They also have a roller at the back to ease with the installation and removal of the ladder.
    They cost about £100 and i've seen them for sale at the following website :-

    I took my old company van to get one fitted as they deemed walkin on the roof of the high top a bit dangerous, good for lyin on and skivin in the summer though! Anyway i recall the bloke saying they retail at about £400 + VAT. Which aint too bad considerin they came with three roof bars (worth £190) aswell.

    are you used to handling ladders? do you have ali ladders
    theres all sorts of expensive systems out there but it aint rocket science

    to be honest i found the bri-stor system really awkward. Now that im self employed i do it the old fashioned way. Put ladders against back door climb up, pull ladder up, attach clamps, then hang and drop off or just jump if me knees are up to it.
