Treated Post - Please help

    Hi , can anyone suggest best way to keep this treated post from rotting. As you can see it’s opened up and probably looks worse in photo than it is. it’s sound at present but what’s best way to preserve it. Fill it? Leave it open and treat regularly? What’s best to keep it from rotting just want your ideas. Thanks

    Take it back and ask for another. That’s a bark inclusion I think, not solid timber.

    Too late for that it’s already in situ. Hoping for remedies to keep it from rotting for a few years

    The base of the post thats in contact with the ground will rot way before that little section does.
    I wouldn't worry about it.

    Ok thanks, but just to be on the safe side, should I liberally put wood preserver inside just in case. I presume it won’t do any harm?
