Treating knots on a pine garden gate

Hello All .. hope you can help. I stained a new (I'm pretty sure it's pine) garden gate with a medium brown wood stain. I have to re-do it every two years because the knots tend to bleed. I scrape off the dried sap first. Since it needs doing again, I'm thinking of rubbing down the knotted areas and applying a few coats of knotting solution before I stain it again. I'm using black this time. My problem is that I don't know if the knotting solution will stop the stain from setting in the wood. Any comments would help a lot. Thanks in advance.

You might get lucky with 2 or more coats of knotting. I find that tbh, knotting isn't as good as it used to be and that zinsser BIN x 2 coats is better but being white, probably won't be suitable under a stain unless you are putting on several coats of the black which may eventually cover it

Thank you DBC. Could you possibly recommend a black stain product?
There are so many, SuePH...if you want to see the grain of the wood something like this might meet your needs:
