    Hi,
I have to dig a trench for a water supply pipe. My plumber said 900mm deep, but how wide do I need to make it?
    Thanks

Wide enough to work in to dig trench if digging by hand, about 225mm -300mm minmum should be workable, mini digger would be 150mm.

A mattock is a great tool in this scenario :)

As is a drainage spade, or a long handle trenching shovel only has 100mm wide blade, but I've never used one, to dig down to 900mm.

If your connecting to your water company pipe, check what maximum size supply pipe is allowed, some will allow 32mm (recommended), others 25mm.

best to ask the plumber,he may be running the new water pipe in a 100mm duct.

Hire a mini digger or an Eastern European from outside Selco
