Under Cabinet & Plinth Lighting - HELP/IDEAS

Hi

I’m looking for help and advice in regards to some kitchen lighting from the people with experience of using/fitting kitchen lights. I just got my wren kitchen delivered and I’m looking to start fitting it over the next couple of weeks. I am resheeting most of the kitchen so any cables can be hidden in the wall etc.

I was thinking the bar lighting for under the cabinets, but there is a cooker hood in between my wall units so just wondering if the extension would be easy enough to hide over the cooker hood?

And I was thinking strip lighting for under the cabinets, is an aluminium bar required for this?

Has anyone any experience of fitting any of these lighting and would they recommend what to use?

If I connected both of these to a driver could they then be hard wired into a double light switch?

I have attached pictures of my kitchen and a quick diagram of my proposed wires, but any help or advice would be appreciated

thanks in advance!

Yep. I did this for my kitchen. I bought the sticky led strips and put them in an aluminium profile channel with a diffuser strip on top. Connected to the lighting main so they can be switched independently of the ceiling lights. They look really impressive as they are all cut to size. I’ve used slightly better drivers than I need as I may add up lighters at a later stage. Our generous hosts Screwfix stock the led strips and I used another supplier for the profiles (sorry can’t remember who as it’s a couple of years ago).

Thanks for the reply mate excellent! Did you wire the wall unit lights and plinth lights up to controlled by the same switch or double switch?

My advice would be don't use strip lighting. it's not very bright to be honest and the cables are in view if you look up at them. Things have moved on a lot since strip lights were all the rage.
In your layout a couple of these and a driver will do the job: https://www.hafele.co.uk/en/product...2&Position=35&OrigPos=908&ProductListSize=520

thanks for the reply mate, they lights look brilliant I would just need to get access to a trade account to get them! Any suggestions or advice for plinth lights? I fancy long style kind of lights rather than the spot lights sunk in the plinth?
