Greetings! I have a full redec to start., walls, ceiling & white gloss to timber. My question is re. undercoating prior to gloss paint. Is it acceptable to use the white matt emulsion as an undercoat, or is it better advised to use a branded white undercoat??
    Cheers.

Not exactly speaking...social housing maintenance contract. It has a standard to meet of course, but not the same standard as Mr &Mrs Client.

How many adverts have you seen where paint manufactures are advising using white matt as an undercoat?

Emulsion and undercoat are two different paints, emulsion paint is a finishing product whereas undercoat provides a base for a finishing paint. An undercoat would be advised. Next question is oil or water base.
