Unexpected worktop issue - extra wide solid wood worktop advice

    Hi,

Finishing off a kitchen install, and don't ask me why, but for some reason I assumed the stone fitters would be doing my wooden worktops too

So, I now only have half my worktops sorted as I have a wooden worktop butting up against a quartz worktop, and another single length against a wall.

First question, who should I be looking for to cut and install this (local carpenter or specialist?), and will they be able to template and do all the cutting, rounded edges etc...

Second question, to do the worktop left to right in one run, is max depth 1240, max length 1500. Is it worth the extra cost to pay for a made up worktop @ 1240, or will it still look perfect joining two lengths together (oak readily comes in 1240, but not my requirement in walnut)?

    Thanks all!

You need a kitchen fitter or decent carpenter to do it.

Joining the 2 together may be a pain if the tops aren't perfectly flat, and you will have a joint line which should be pretty inconspicuous if done properly

Thanks Scott, looks like 'Topworktops' supply, template and fit, so might give them a try!

In that case, maybe you can answer - what should I expect to pay to have someone cut & fit? Would they be able to match the edges on the wood that I am having on the quartz? Would they supply the wood, or would I have to get it?

Bit annoyed I mucked this planning up as I hadn't even considered having to sort this out. Don't know any carpenters and don't want to take a risk on check-a-trade!
