I want to replace this with a Danfoss or Honeywell programmer. I searched earlier requests for help but my concern is the only wires going to above is a Live, Neutral and earth which appears to loop to the back. The other threads have said they have another wire (switching) but not this one. The boiler is a Vaillant Combi. As I would have to fit the programmer unit and back plate please advise the correct wiring connections , is it as straightforward as to N and L or different markings on the new backplate.
    Thanks

Ot should have neutral but it can work without one.
In this case yours has a live and switched live.

Is it a programmable stat your looking to buy.
If so one that’s powered by batteries would be the easiest solution.

I’m open to suggestions about best one to buy for simplicity, definitely a programmable one, budget around £60 to £80. the red and black wires on the Danfoss RMT230 if neither are neutral assuming I go for your suggested programmers what connections would my red and black go to.

    Depends what you buy.
    Connections vary depending on manufacturers.
Could be numbered or called common and NO.

If you buy a stat that’s powered by batteries then the two wires can go into either connection on the new stat.

Any battery powered stat will work with 2 wires.

It doesn’t have to be this specific one.
I chose this to show how easy it would be to wire.
There’s other stats that are more user friendly than this. Have a look.
