Using UK fittings in Spain?

The UK fittings will carry the CE mark so they will be accepted in any EU state and the UK. Not sure how 13A sockets will be received but you do have the option of the '13A socket' that accepts the two pin European plug as well as a standard 13A plug, they are connected to a 16A or 20A radial circuit as ring circuits are not used in Europe.

UK expats invariably come a cropper using UK fittings abroad, whether it be plumbing in France or electrics in Bulgaria or elsewhere. In the Bulgaria case he was told to remove everything and start again to Bulgarian standards. In the French plumbing case he found he could not sell when the time came.

So my advice is don't do it. I'm sure Spanish fittings are available.
As far as 13a sockets are concerned I know they are not allowed in Spain the same as Schuko are not allowed in the UK. As for a socket that accepts a 13a plug as well a a 2 pin one, I have seen those in the far east and they are dangerously made and do not comply to any countries standards. Also if you (can) insert a Schuko plug into one of these the earth (2 side strips) will not connect.

I first saw these 8 years ago in a new hospital in Malta, these must have been accepted by the architects, or even specified, so I see no reason why they should be considered unsuitable. Malta is in the EU, just as Spain is, so common rules and acceptances apply. The USA is slowly adopting our 13A sockets in some installations, the domestic users are frustrated at the low power 1.5 kW available at their 115 volt 10A outlets.

Perhaps the architects were cowboys. Or perhaps the hospital was a special case with isolating transformers on every socket. Common rules and acceptances do not apply throughout the EU by any means. Ireland, Cyprus, and Malta use 13a sockets, many countries use Schuko, Italy has its own socket, Denmark has its own socket, France, Belgium, Poland, Czech, and Slovakia use yet another socket and France and Belgium reverse the live and neutral compared to Czech and Slovakia.
Ireland, Malta, and Cyprus drive on a different side of the road to the other EU countries.
Don't even get me started on the different plumbing arrangements in the EU.

Do you have a source for this gem? I have never seen them over there.
For your information the standard NEMA US outlet is rated at 15 amps, and the voltage is 120v giving 1.8kW. (115 x 10 = 1.15 by the way not 1.5). But there are 240v outlets over there with horizontal blades which use 2 (opposite) phases for high power devices such as cookers and HIVAC.

I appreciate your reply. However, I don't want to fit UK sockets. I was asking only about light fittings, specifically fitting UK pendants, but with an E27 bulb holder rather than a UK-style bayonet. The three-terminal ceiling rose has a live, neutral and earth. Common sense says that should be compatible and not pose any risks. But I'm not an electrician, and perhaps I'm missing something. The only reason I'm considering buying UK fittings is because it's easier for me to source them here in the UK and take them with me than to find the same thing in Spain.
