I’m going to be laying down an LVT click flooring in the kitchen. I’ve found a product by which looks to be a hybrid of LVT and Laminate in terms of structure. It’s got a rigid core (limestone), clicks together is a floating floor with Vinyl on top etc but no one has a clue so far as to what would be the best type of underlay for it? Something that would be vapour/moisture resistant is ideal since it’s going over a concrete floor that has been levelled and in the kitchen.

I’m thinking because it’s closer to wood laminate that i can get away with utilising a laminate underlay? It also has a cork backing rather than vinyl too.

The seller said no underlay is needed. The builder said I should get one.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

Look at the sonic gold underlay, used that for laminate flooring, its quite thin but has an integral vapour control layer. I put aluminum tape over the joins on mine.

Cheers. Will have a look into that. Seen some stuff at B&Q today by a company called Diall. But their staff really didn’t have a clue.
