Vertical drop in toilet waste

    I am installing a new bathroom and the waste pipes for the toilet, bath and sink will be going under the floor of the adjoining bedroom, which is above the garage. The joists are running the correct way and the garage has no ceiling, so there isn't a problem with the drop.

    It will look something like:

    Bedroom || Bathroom
    || ______
    || |
    || | ___
    || | |
    ===============================| |==================
    Garage __________________| |
    100mm pipe |
    _____________________|

    I was wondering if having an additional vertical drop would cause a problem, such as

    Bedroom || Bathroom
    || ______
    || |
    || | ___
    || | |
    ===============================| |==================
    Garage __________| |
    | |
    | _________|
    | | ||
    ________| | ||
    | ||
    _____________| ||
    ||

    The reason for this would be to allow the bath and sink wastes to be connected to the toilet waste inside the garage, rather than running them parallel across the garage ceiling and joining them outside.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Carl

    Ok, well that didn't work. All the spaces got removed :mad:

    But my question still stands, can I have a vertical drop in my toilet waste to allow me to connect the bath and sink waste to the toilet waste inside the garage?

    You can have as many vertical drops as you want. The only factors to consider are:
    • your horizontal runs for a 110mm soil pipe should be 2% ... so they should drop by 2cm over a metre
    • if you have a very tall vertical drop that is likely to contain poo (a drop of over on floor height, or more than 2.5m), then at the bottom of that drop you should have a large radius right angle bend, and not a small radius one.

    Except the first bend off the wc spigot connection,Try to fit subsequent bends with low flow resistance,ie long radius bends or 2x45 degree bends in lieu of a 90 degree bend.

    Its to do with offsets in the wet soil section, prevention of possible problems :)
