Seems his only option is going to be to download the newer version anyway... I have to ask if this old cove liked Win 3.1? I'm surprised he didn't want that installed on an old 386 processor system and I do hope you managed to stick him an old 5" floppy drive in. :p:p:p:p

Anyway, well done DA for getting him a nice computer. ;);)

Annoyingly he didn't include his email addy in the required info when he registered, or else that would have been a good solution. As it is, BBO say they cannot help as he cannot prove who he is!

Not that I know anything about Bridge, but I understand that the new web-based format isn't as popular - don't ask me why. Mum-in-law hates it too, so she harangued and bludgeoned them into apparently keeping it going for a few months longer...

(She's well scary... :()
 
Jeepers, turned out to be stupidly easy - got help on the BBO forum.

Logged on to the site using his old pooter - which had the password 'remembered' - and then went into Settings, Profile and changed the password.

That bludy easy.

Jeepers - all the hassle it's caused.

He is going to be sooo chuffed tomorrow :)

I was - I have it at ma hoosie to get files from.

I was surprised - normally you need to re-enter your old password before changing it to a new. But not on BBO.

Yes, it turned out to be stupidly easy - but I was more stupid.

Anyhoo, thanks for all the prompts - espec KIAB who made me try to logon on to the BBO forum again.

No,some older programs you didn't need to, even up to a few years ago, but with the threat of online nasties, that has changed, which is a good thing.
 
Or a bad thing... :)

(Even the BBO web person said to my muminlaw he'd need to have had his email addy on the server before they could renew/recover his password. Perhaps he was talking about the new software... :oops:)
 
Ok, not done quite yet...

Office/Word 2003.

I've found a separate HDD section where the last computer guy made a small section to hold 'PC Setup Files'.

In this he has a folder called Office2003Pro which has the following inside it (see file attached) and also a separate page with all the activation codes :)

Ok, I now have a fresh copy of Word 2003 downloaded from t'net, but also now this folder. Can anyone tell me if this folder (see below) contains everything I'd need to install Office on his new machine? Would I simply transfer the whole contents over, click on 'setup' and then enter the codes?

Or am I better to chust go for the new clean downloaded copy?
