It was the quickest way to respond to an ugent problem of supply, they said, in reality they all ran into the corridor and phoned their friends to divert millions of pounds of tax payers money, it's not exactly surprising when you have a cabinet made of part time MP's there mainly to enhance their other business interests.

What I find surprising is why so many British people defend their right to be continually shafted by Eton graduates.
I know some nice Eton graduates :)

I think it was probably worse than that, I think he was just grossly incompetent.

I'm sure they are very nice, it just strikes me as odd that English people(in particular) choose people of privilege to sort out things like housing and the cost of living, two things they have very likely no concept of, even worse the education and health of the not so wealthy, is it because they speak very well?

LOL.
I honestly believe that it goes back generations - it's the "your betters" indoctrination. It's the universal con that politicians are universally cleverer than us common folk.
I think some of them are very clever indeed, but rather more are thick as the proverbial pig......
It is also a consequence of education, for most of us our education teaches us compliance and conformity, for a few it teaches entitlement, self promotion, and superiority,- your Suella Bravermans maybe?
and for still fewer it teaches noblesse oblige. - these latter I don't mind finding a purpose in politics - your Rory Stewarts? maybe

I envy you Scots, Welsh, Irish, you always have the awareness of being ruled by "foreigners", we English have to endure the ire of you celts, when we're just as equally abused by the upper classes of our own nation. LOL
