I use a Golf estate for work (2003 03plate) it has a erratic habit of cutting out when slowing down to turn at a junction, also once started again it momentarily runs like its on kangaroo petrol, throttle body has been cleaned out plus some o rings to do with the injectors have been replced...............has made no difference, any ideas to this problem out there?

  2. Manual or auto?

Any engine warning /jnfo light on dash?

Replace EGR valve or blank it off leaving the original one connected to stop dash light coming on. Guaranteed 100% will cure problem

    No
Been into a VW dealership............throttle body cleaned,
Fault code on dash displayed 'Emmisions Workshop'. This was cleared by dealership

True, had an Astra estate...3 EGR's replaced in 10 years. Not quite the same symptoms but not a mile off though! good call, Cheers shauna!

  9. Unplug the maf sensor and try it. See if any difference. Its in the air filter trunking

But would have expected vw to have picked that up.

Emissions workshop does point to egr, but again would have expected it to be picked up

  10. Does it start and run ok when cold and get worse as warms up? Or other way round?

Does it rev cleanly when just sitting there, not driving?

Think they were too busy showing me a pointless video of underneath of my car!, such a waste of my TIME!

Yes starts up really well but erratic fault may occur 3 times a week or once occurred 4 times in a day, worse when warm after 3 to 5 miles. Seems to rev ok. Very erratic fault.

Replace it, I had an old toyota years ago, similar problem, changed fuel pump etc etc, it turned out to be a £2 in line fuel filter

Not always, some faults can be annoying & only appear when car is taken on a drive & got up to working temperature, & not sat in workshop on idle.

I bought one of these as I was having problems with my 54 reg astra.
Logged the faults as they happend whilst driving. Saved me a bundle.

You need a smartphone or laptop with Bluetooth for it to work.
    All the best. Philso
