Hello The new upstairs loo has been plumbed into the downstairs soil pipe. Often we are getting some of the waste from upstairs make a journey into the downstairs loo. Not ideal. I have just moved where the pipe enters the existing pipe by 30cm down stream and this has not helped much. (Originaly they plumbed it right by the wall entrance). I cant see how i can do much else, any ideas?? Thanks.
Two thoughts. Partial blockage in the waste pipe. OR As the upstairs flushes it pulls the water out of the downstairs and then it refills with waste water from above. What AAVs have you got installed
- Just had the waste pipe off and all clear - There is a short vent pipe outside upstairs loo with a FloPast Air Admittance valve
Who did that?! I hope it wasn't a "professional" The elbow from your downstairs cloakroom needs to be changed to a T and the diagonal pipe run from upstairs needs to be changed to two 90's as a start. Who knows what the rest of the pipewotk looks like. Come on, fessup, you dunnit, haven't you!
First turn the branch round so the sweep is in the direction of flow. That may solve the problem. If not, time for more major operations as above.
