Hi guys, im looking to build a timber shed/garage and im really struggling with the price of timber at the moment. ive seen a guy locally selling 3.6m 38x88 untreated 'rails' at a really good price and wondering if they would be any good for my project...
Sorry if im being stupid but whats the difference between a normal timber length and a 'rail' at those dimensions?

I’m reality I expect there is no difference. Although it may be rough sawn.
However I would not consider using untreated wood for outdoors, Even if you treat it before hand. You would be better getting tantalised timber for the job, yes more expensive but it will last far better.
