Hi All. I'm looking at replacing a few bricks which have blown over the years. The only trouble is I can't figure out what the variety/name of the brick is. The house is around 1900 solid brick mining town in the east midlands. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers,
It could have been produced locally for use only on building in the immeiate area if its as old as 1900. Try some local salvage/reclaim yards. reclaimedbricksfloorboardsmidlands.co.uk www.yell.com/s/salvage+and+reclamation-handsworth-birmingham.html
Watnall bricks, springs to mind, my fathers house looks like your wall. But as mentioned earlier try a local reclamation yard. Regards
Best to take one out and try to get a match, some bricks have the name of the brickworks printed into the frogs. It could be a common or handmade brick. Definitely imperial sized. If the opposite side is good, you could turn the faces around. Look around skips, bricks like these around here are like gold dust so i always go skip hunting when I need some.
