What's holding my wall up?

I bought a 1930s house which I'm modernising. The front wall of the master bedroom overhangs the downstairs bay window (see the pic supplied). I expected this wall to be of timber frame construction, but checking in the loft, the inner skin is made of concrete blocks, so it's at least a one block wall. Given the date of construction, would there be a steel beam or frame holding up the wall? If the wall isn't being held up by a steel beam, then is it being supported by a wooden beam? Would a wooden beam be used to support a concrete block wall?House.jpg

I had a very similar setup at my own place. If the same then there was a large timber plate running across from left to right. The floor joists ran and were fixed into it and so were supported by the face brickwork. The bay frames were structural and also therfore also carried this plate . Those posts may also contribute to support. Regards

If the joists run front to back they could be cantilevered out and the upper external wall built off them. Failing that, either a timber or steel beam.

Cheers for the responses - looks like a wooden beam cantelevered off the joists may be what I have, but I'll need to investigate a bit further.
