What's the point in porcelain?

    Just a quick question:

Porcelain floor tiles in shops seem to be twice the price of ceramic.

Can anyone tell me what the advantages are of porcelain tiles? Are they worth the extra cash? Is it just a snob thing?

    Thanks, upnorth

  2. I can provide a greater range of colours and is substantially harder wearing.

    thanks mudster.
Now I just have to decide whether to tile under the units. Seen the old threads on this though...decisions decisions...

...oo, and do I need a special tile adhesive for it, or will the bog standard B&Q type stuff for concrete floors do the biz?
    Thanks

  5. You'll need an adhesive suitable for porcelain tiles, pretty much most of BAL and Ardex's products.

I wouldn't recommend any of B&Q's products even for a standard ceramic.

thanks mudster. Can I ask why? Is is just that the tiles will work loose sooner?

    Thanks, upnorth

  7. It just isn't anywhere near the spec of professional quality adhesives and often isn't correct for what it says on the tub.
