Which adhesive for tile backer board on chipboard floor

If the floors really flat then mechanical fixings on their own should be enough.120 - 150mm fixing grid) If you need to level then I would use a decent branded one. No need for fast set. Use a notched trowel 8-10mm and don't over tamp down or you may loose the level .

The floor is mostly level so may be ok but I’ll need to double check. If adhesive is needed, does it need to be flex?

Not used the SF Own Brand adhesive in your link but as above, your chipboard flooring is laid over timber joists (I would imagine) so use a flexible adhesive

Check product details whatever you decide on but likely you will need to prime the chip flooring with a specific tile primer or just go diluted SBR @ 1-4 water

Wickes sell a 1lr SBR which is a handy diy size as most other places comes in 5lt minimum, as diluting at 1-4, smaller unit still gives you loads

No need to prime the backer board, if using the cement type boards, just wipe over with a damp cloth as can be rather dusty and affect adhesion
