Which shovel?

From what I see on TV, this country is the only one that uses shovels with 'proper' cross handles like those at the top of page 415 in the new Screwfix catalogue. All the others seem to use shovels like the round ended one just below, with a straight rod handle. This looks uncomfortable & inefficient to use but I suppose it is cheap. Has anyone out there used both & knows which one is best?.

You cant beat a good old british shovel.
Here in Ireland we use those crappy long handled jobbies... to be fair they are great for filling the mixer nice and well balanced with that long handle, but a pain in the bum when trying to shovell out of the barrow, or anything thing else for that matter
They dont sell the former here so I ended up fashioning my own till I get back over in the van and can pick up a new one and a spare too (my last one got nicked)
