Why does hot water freeze quicker than cold

    Oh, I get it you want a clue ?

    Hot water won't freeze because it's A - T -  V -
    There you go just 3 letters to get now and as a bonus first one correct can have the prize that I won from Sam earlier on in the thread !

  7. Sam Spade, absolutely pure water can be super-cooled to temps well below 0oC without freezing, -40oC being typical.

    Where did I get this? Everybody knows it...

    DA, pure water can be cooled to below 0 degrees C, but as soon as someone either rattles the container it's in or even looks at it a bit funny like, it will instantly freeze solid. ;)

    To say that absolutely pure water can be super-cooled is not the same as saying that it cannot freeze.
  12. Ok, in moron-speak; it can be cooled to -40oC without it freezing.

    Not that you're a moron, of course...

    Here's a wee tip from a Master Plumber;
    If you're freezing pipes; spit on the pipe next to where you're trying to make the ice block, a right big groger mind!!  If your groger freezes, then you're water in the pipe will be frozen........;)
    Job done.
