I am just about to fit a new burglar alarm in my farmhouse which has about 1.5-2ft thick walls.
I did some research and shortlisted 2 wireless kits, but the company guy said he doesnt think that a wireless system would work well here and recommended going for a wired.
I am not sure about this, i really wanted to go wireless. Do i go wired or wireless and what make/model is best.
Also, how do you recommend these 2 I chose:

    Of those NEITHER.

You will have possible problems with wireless - although if you chose teh right brand you can put wireless receivers or additional devices in appropriate places to act as additional hops back to the base station.
Why not go for a real prefessional system that can work with wired or wireless or combination of both and choose the acual sensors YOU need.

I would suggest Texecom - their kits are shown https://www.alertelectrical.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=texecom+kit Cost is possibly less than what you are looking at. You can link Texecom to your router and receive alerts on your phone if te correct interface is installed. There is a good Texecom forum and they will supply support to home users/installers.

I know you want wireless however from my knowledge and experience make I would suggest the main keypad is wired along with wired sounders. Having a wired keypad by te main door also means you can wire teh door contact and local PIR straight back to the keypad.

Have a good look at understanding the Texecom Ricochet system and dte way it meshes the wireless devices together.

For example - locate a PE48 panel in a loft and wire out to your front door and garage. At each of those points put a 8XP-W (wireless expander) and from that to a wired keypad.

Wire a magnetic door sensor for the front door or garage door direct to the keypad and maybe a local wired PIR. Then locate your various PIRs and contact sensors around the house, and if a 2foot thick wall is in the way you can locate a basic sensor (contact or PIR) in a door way to act as a relay. You could have up to four 8XP-W installed, plus 8 wired on the panel, and 2 on every wired keypad.

You can also get "Smart Keys" and individual Fobs to work with it. I for example recommend using a Fob to set the alarm on leaving, easy and no mistakes, then using a code to on re-entry. Plus you can have a night setting that needs just two or three button presses, and it arms the perimeters, - doors, windows, garage, and maybe some rooms, but leaves bedroom, bathroom and other areas fully accessible. Add it a SmartCom plus the app and everytime your wife sneaks into the Gin store, you will get an alert!
