You could always run a ring for your lighting circuit, then you can plug what you like in,If he was saying can I install a socket off the lighting circuit for a kettle then yes, but a few lights?? Don't think so

Assuming you are still around, cutting through three pages of trash, your original idea of the socket on top of the cupboards seems like the best solution.I have led strips with transformer plugs which I need to connect to the lighting circuit so the light switch can control them. Is it ok if I add a 13A sockets above each cabinet to plug transformer plugs into?
