    Hi Guys
Hoping someone can clarify wiring a new programmable room thermostat on my grant boiler
have attached relevant page from boiler manual. The diagrams indicate that the wire to the boiler is a switch 230/240v live but the text on the left below warning header says volt free output.
is anyone able to offer any thoughts ( current room stat also indicates its switched live)

It looks like L1 on the boiler receives 230v from the programmer in the diagram.

Thanks Mike i agree with your conclusion but how can you have volt free connection which is a switched live

It can’t really be volt free unless the boiler puts the power out, to then come back via the programmer.

  5. It means that the internal workings of the timeclock are not linked. The clock and the output are not linked electrically internally in the clock.

    Agree.
But the instructions and diagrams contradict each other.
