I need to box in a hidden cistern and soil pipe in our downstairs loo. I would like to use the white really shiny wood that is used an many kitchen cabinets. I think the base is mdf but covered in a shiny plastic. Does anyone know where I can get this from? I have tried Lavers, B&Q etc, but can only find the standard Formica type. It needs to be about 1.2m square, so bigger than a standard kitchen cabinet. TIA, Syd.
ask your local timber yard for a high gloss melamine board or look for a company specialising in supply of board material, there's loads around, whereabouts are you? Alternatively you could order a large slab style door from the likes of http://www.kitchendoorworkshop.co.uk/kitchen-doors/ , they do custom sizes so will make you one big enough. Bare in mind when cutting the stuff that you want a decent blade on whatever you're using as it will chip incredibly easy with too coarse a blade and they'll be no hiding it if it does.
B & Q do a fairly good range of sizes in these high gloss panels, so should be able to work out the most economical way of buying to minimise waste Any raw edges that may be subjected to moisture need to be sealed Good luck http://www.diy.com/nav/rooms/kitche...te-Clad-On-Wall-Panel-10186803?skuId=10607508
That is exactly what I need, but they do not come in a big enough piece (1.2m sq). I am near Reading, have tried Arnold Laver, but they only doa textured finish. Thanks, Syd.
Ahhhhhh right .... Didn't really notice the size required in your post and don't know all the sized B&Q stock Just knew they sold the high gloss panels as brought a couple myself Good luck finding 1.2m
