How do they owe me money? Is it for the price of the worktop? See I could be throwing £25 at the court and not getting anywhere again.
I’ll go back to them and state they haven’t inspected or tested the worktop. No I’m not going to spend £25 on the courts yet - I’m strapped as it is.
This suggests that just the surface colour has chipped or even peeled off, as you say 'smaller chips appeared' then suggests faulty laminate. The laminate is usually dark wood, the glue is usually red (so you can see where it is sprayed) and I'm sure you know what colour chipboard is. This suggests poor quality laminate. You mentioned 'bump or bumps' along the 'side'. Do you mean along the front??? Are these postformed (round front)??? This suggests poor quality manufacture. Put them both together. Not good. But I am only going by your explanation. Tell the company you are seeking advice on Diy forums and Social Media.
@Mancone . there was a question or two in my post! Obviously up to you how you escalate it (or not) now, possibly with the ideas given. I know you thought you were buying quality worktops so this not directed at you but.... Quality worktops are the most important thing for a quality kitchen and from experience Duropal and Axiom are some of the best quality laminate worktops on the market in my experience. Some laminates are only a few tenths of a mm thick whilst a quality laminate will be circa 1mm thick.
Hi I don’t know how to describe the bumps. If I run my hand down the vertical side yes it’s bumpy and looks bumpy. The top is also not fully Matt white - I can faint areas of chip board. I’ve told WE this many times and they’ve always given me the same answer - spoke to the manufacturer and it’s your fault. Or it’s part of the product - as shown by our samples. I’m so annoyed by the process.
I will take that on board about the brands. I’ve never seen a bad worktop to be honest...... some cringe fake marble ones but never bad ones. The ones at my parents have lasted 25 years and still fine.... so I guess I went into it blind.
Mancone quote...The ones at my parents have lasted 25 years and still fine.... Not so many rob-dog / cowboy companies around 25 years ago imo.... Look underneath theirs next time you visit and the manufacturer's name will probably be all over the backing balancing sheet.
if that is what the manufacturer says then they can also explain what the impact was that caused it and the testing they have performed to demonstrate impact resistance. did you pay by credit card? if so put in section 75 claim
I will be going to them with the worktop if I don’t get a refund... that’s of course when I can get someone to fix it properly lol
Ok kind forum people. Worktop Express have come back to me and written: We have received a further response from the decor to suggest this is due to impact damage. However, they have advised they would be willing to make a site visit if this would be suitable with you. ****** How would you suggest I respond?
They made a typo ? or you did ? Just copy and paste the e-mail, with any personal details removed of course.
