I always acknowledge you Phil, I'm the bloke who gave you the two fingered salute when I clocked you looking at my hairy ar*e!

Alright mate, what can I get ya? What you after mate? Can I get that for you mate? All reasonable expected greeting when in a trade environment. Good morning sir, how may I be of assistance? You can stop following company guidance to the letter for a start, and get me a **** pipe elbow in brown, or terracotta whatever you prefer. Where's Dan? You know the guy who speaks normal!
An indigenous Brit no doubt. Could you imagine a young, educated East European or Syrian being so uncouth...?
I'm a Cockney,so being called "Mate" is certainly is not offensive to me. I really can't see the pproblem.
It's only a problem when it's inappropriate - when it comes across as contrived, phony - false bonhomie.
I can cope with 'one' Yes mate, the multiple use of 'mate' after each question really * me off big time, got it, easy innit. I'm not blood, Bud, Dude or even Bruv and as for being told 'to have a nice day'...... stick it where the sun don't shine'!
