4.8m joist span

    As titled what is the required joist size for a first floor 4.8m span unsupported

    The span is only part of the problem, you need the know the load aswell to be able to work out the size required.

    Hi Phil,
    Out of curiosity, how do designers/engineers work this out when designing the construction of a building?
    Do they add up the total weight of all the bricks, blocks, timber, roof etc and then go from there?
