   I have normal floorboards currently. Can I fit 12mm insulated tile backer board straight onto these and then tile on top?
   
   Or do I need to do something else?
   
   I dont mind doing the work just not sure the best way to proceed!

   Your floorboards they 18mm thick..
   
   6mm or 12mm backerboards will do the job,no problem as long as you follow mf fixing instructions...
   
   Flexiable cement based adhesive(porcabond will say on the bag) and flexy grout....
   
   Before anything.....do you have a cutting machine that will take the 600mm tile??..
