    Hi folks,

First post, please be gentle ;)

Whilst looking at a product review, the reviewer placed great emphasis on using a RCD when using power tools.

I use, for general DIY/projects, an extremely powerful circular saw in my workshop (garage!). Should I be running this through a RCD for safety?

    Thanks.

    Hi Richard,
Its a good idea to use RCD protection to supply most devices, especially power tools. They were invented to stop the risk of electric shock.
You may already have RCD protection from your consumer unit (fuse box). Is there a sticker on it saying there is, or a test button on any of the devices inside it? If not, you could use an RCD adapter/socket on your power tools.

For the price of an rcd protected device it would not make sense to be without one :D
