Worst: Vauxhall Insignia. Caught fire after a week. Replaced it with a new Mondeo.

The best car I ever had , and still have is my Landrover. I don't know waht model it is but it was made in 1972 and is the shorter one. I have painted it scarlet so that you men can see me coming.

The worst car i ever had was a Vauxhall Zafira. I bought it to carry my goats to market but people thought I was a broody mum with lots of sproglets so I got rid of it. I have an image to keep up.

Best was my 1974 MGBGT, not very practical but loads of fun! Worst was a 1980 Mini 1275GT, the garage had it more than I did in the brief period before I swapped ot for a Fiesta Supersport.

Best  Suzuki Carryvan. Just so much fun and crazily crazily fast away at the lights. Rear wheel drive so put your tools at the back and you will beat everything with 4 wheels over the first 50m, after that even a milk float would overtake

Worst  Yugo 55 what was I thinking

  10. A Yugo 55 was my second car. I loved it. I bought it in London and it was perfect for driving around the city - that was 25-odd years ago... :(

My best car was my first. Built by myself when I was 18. The cheapest kit you could get - a Dutton. But, a truly joyous car. Even drove it to London and used it there, before selling it and buying the Yugo...

On the island from whence I came, I drove my little Melos on beaches -

On narrow, little tree-lined lanes -

And topless in the snow -

    Miss it lots :'(

Renault 5 was my first and worst car that I ever bought because almost everything that could go wrong with it did!

My current car a Honda Civic is definately my best (so far) and I have to say that because at one time I had a fantastic Ford Sierra until the ruddy cam belt snapped!!!

  12. I would say the best car i have ever owned is a ford fiesta, VW POLO drives like a dream, easy on fuel and good MPG.
    Worst Renult clio unreliable!

A Volvo 360 has to be my worse car, the heavest steering ever though after you drove it you had arms like popeye, without the need for spinach

The worst was the Ford Mustang II because of its engine, glad that I changed it soon after.

The best yet has to be the Toyota Camry 2015.

Had a brown chevette back in the 80s which was a dog, but also my first car so held it in great affection, too.
Worst "modern" car was a brand new Nissan Qashqai - shockingly bad. Rolled off my driveway after a couple of days due to handbrake ratchet breaking, rear shocks replaced at 2000 miles for rattling, all the seats squeaked if no one was sitting in them. The first stime I washed it it ended up with 1" of water in the footwells. An absolute disgrace of a car, utterly soulless and plastic everywhere - never again.
Favourite car was my Mk1 XR2 - what a car - wish I still had it now.

Worst - Hillman Imp when I was a young lad. Horrific in every way. Caught fire twice and eventually blew its ally cylinder head off. Had some good times though - six of us crammed in it going to see Rush at Bingley Halls in Stafford.

Best -E46 BMW M3 in Estoril Blue with grey leather, plus the SMG gearbox. A box I had to tick. 9 points on my license inside 4 months, so it had to go.

A rover. I only owned it for three years and in that time it went through two gearboxes and two engines. It was the most unreliable car I ever owned.

Mk2 mondeo that we owned for 9 years.
Paid £500 (10years old) and scraped it for £100 9 years later.
Costing me nothing but services (done most myself) and tyres.

My old escort van was similar although had that for 12 years. Bought for £3500 and got £100 scrap.
Had one cluck in that that cost me but expected. Was worn out come time of scrapping.

Worst mk4 mondeo we currently own. Fuel pump £600 and air con don't work and cost £400 and still don't work.
    Radio died.
    Electrics not great.

Had some bad cars, likely worst was Rover 2000, valve for money best likely the Honda Jazz, but best quality wise likely the Jaguar XE.

Also had a Renault Kango which was a pain, but been converted by GoWing and was designed to carry a wheel chair, so not sure what bits down to Renault and which down to GoWing, but put me off Renault.

Had a Reliant Regal which ran quite nice, but heater never seemed to work, would bleed it, and it would work for 10 miles, then stop working again, went for Honeymoon in that, and been married 59 years now.

First new car was Lada Samara, the faults at first MOT after 3 years were frighting, but it ran well.

We got a Vauxhall Agila and Toyota Yaris at the same time, the Yaris was by far the better car, more miles per gallon, easier to drive, although that early model rear seat passengers needed to suffer from rickets to get their legs in, but the Agila was cheaper, so Yaris should be better. Both gave same MPG on spec, but Yaris did about 8 MPG more in spite of being Automatic.

The Lada Samara was shown on all the motor books as being bad MPG wise, but actually it was very good, they stopped importing them because could not pass emissions laws with a carb and had not paid the bill for GM fuel injection. But most were modified on arrival in the UK fitting sun roof etc, and sun roof would leak unless one used Petroleum Jelly on seals. The Vauxhall Royal also had sun roof, but original manufacture with one so drains fitted so leak did not come inside.

Of the old second hand cheap cars likely best was Toyota Celica 2000, some where around 1973 build I had it around 7 year old, and likely the most sporty car I have had until the Jag we have now. Also had a couple of Toyota Crowns, one at the same time as Vauxhall Royal for some reason driving the Crown we would go slower and slower, and you would look at speedo and see only doing 50 not 70, but the Royal was reverse, so easy to speed without realising. Could not afford to run them today, 25 miles per gallon. But 2.6 and 2.8 litre engines mean they could really move.

Today still run a 2.5 litre Kia Sorento which does have some power, but not like the old petrols did, kick down was frighting, but today with 8 speed automatic in the Jag you don't get the wheel spin as the automatic changes down while going around a roundabout. Three speed autos could be dangerous.
