    21245207_10154912989362895_1315878527_n.jpg Morning gents

I've currently got a full on project on the go, now during the demo work and whilst removing all the old CH system I had to dig out the old CH pipework which was buried in the concrete floor. I dug it out rather than cap it off due to many unknown factors with regards to the pipework.

After digging out he pipework I've been left with a load of small trenches which are approximately 150mm deep x 150mm wide.

What would be the best practice to back fill these?

I'm thinking... remove all the loose rubble/stones etc, lay a thin layer of DPM and just back fill with cement and level off to the normal floor level.

Would this be sufficient enough with regards to it not sagging, cracking etc??

Also what would be the best ratio to mix?? Or would there be a ready mix that'll do the job, like a heavy thick self leveling compound?

    TIA

Pretty much as you've said, 4 to 1 mix, though make the mix semi-dry, will compact and fill any voids nicely.

    4-1 mix... 4 cement / 1 part sand?

Use sharp sand and soak the existing concrete with water

lol.. When I started it I wish I did, but when I realized they were buried with no insulation/wrap or protection from the concrete I realized just how bad the pipes were rotten and glad I decided to rip them out.

  9. Fair do's - you know it's a job well done.

(But they wouldn't have caused any issues... :))

Assuming you have not breached the DPM...I would also use some SBR on the channels and in the mix.
    Brilliant stuff.

    SBR??

A new DPM channel sheet will be needed as the old stuff was taken up

laying a thin layer of DPM in a trench will not keep the integrity of a damaged existing DPM.

If you are overlaying a new DPM on that floor it will have to be blinded, taken up the walls and have 65mm sand/cement on top.
    I am confused...lol
Look up the data sheets for SBR tanking and its uses.
