just putting some cedar cladding on my house and fitting a new front door which is engineered oak.

I need something to protect both? Just want a clear finish?

Would it be better to give the cladding a few coats before fixing? It's tongue and groove, vertical fixed ? Thanks

We used to use seasonite on cedar decking, its supposed to prolong the natural colours of the cedar, or you could oil it

It's up to you but the point of cedar cladding is that you don't have to touch it.
