Does anyone have any general advise on this please.

What mix do people use. Do you use lime/ NHL 3.5 for pointing and maybe flaunching?

I am told it is the trowling finish that is important for the flaunching, so I guess the aim is to achieve a good compaction with sufficient run off ?

    Cheers Richard

Never had to use lime down here, only ever used ordinary cement. We are near the sea and get heavy rain and winds and doesn't break down or crack

Same as Sospan, i only ever use a normal cement mix.:)

They key with re-pointing is to find the right sand colour and keep the mix consistent, to ensure it does not look out of place. Getting the mix wrong and you will have an eye-sore of a job.
