1, Do landlords have to fit by law double glazing or secondary glazing? 2. I believe they get a grant for the fitting. Is that right?
Not quite as simple, as they say there will be exemptions. e,g, regulations only apply to England only, conservation area there may even be "Crittal" windows which are protected in some areas of the country!. So I wouldn't bank on having a legal recourse. The best people to speak to are the Local Authorities housing department whom can be quite persuasive with landlords
Thanks. So on the surface a landlord has to fit secondary glazing on older houses. The windows could be listed, say Georgian, but secondary glazing can be fitted. Yes, the Local Authority is the place. What departments tend to deal with that?
Just ring the local council and speak to the housing officer. They will normally give you advice and can come out and check the property for you.
