    Hello.
I want to paint my window ledges so I scraped them down but now where the render meets the window frame the paint is very flakey. What do I need to do? Just paint the render and frames at the same time? I've attached a pic.

Scrap off the flaky area to a sound smooth edge and apply a stabilizer, you can use a Primer Sealer or Zinsser Bulls Eye for this small area even stabilizing solution if you have some. Paint the frames first and then cut in with 2 coats of the render colour.

Thanks very much. I'll give it a go. I also have some cracks. Can I just fill them with masonry filler?

Yes open up the crack, apply pva 5:1, fill it, then rough up the filler to look like the dash finish.
