there seems to be a slight egg smell upstairs on my landing near my hot water tank. Do any plumbers have any ideas what this could be or is it not linked to the hot water tank?

is anything overheating ? I can't think of anything that smells of eggs relating to a hot water tank, maybe there something stuffed down the back/side like,,,,erm,,eggs or summut,

The only thing Ive come across would be if you've got a second bathroom that doesn't get used much and one of the traps has dried up? But that wouldn't necessarily be around your hot water cylinder

Some say faulty electrics smell like fish before burning out so maybe a faulty power switch or wiring is due a burn out.

    It's likely a poltergeist mate.

I have not smelt this the last couple of days but thought it might be a gas of some sort linked to my boiler or water tank.

I doubt it is a gas smell, but if in doubt call a professional in mate to check it out...better safe than sorry

Any chance of the smell coming through from your neighbours?
