Gluing back window seals

I have some double glazing where the black rubber seal keeps popping out - it's between a plastic strip and the glass. If the whole seal is removed, the plastic closes up to the glass, so I think it's the pressure of the plastic strip that is forcing the seal out.
I had to thought to put some silicon in to "glue" the strip in place, but because the plastic closes up when the seal is removed, it makes it very difficult to do this without creating a big mess.

Any thoughts on how the problem can be rectified?

Could be a wrong seal has been fitted for the frame section.

If you have a similar window elsewhere in the property you can check the profile. If would buy some replacements off the internet (ebay has some) its only a few pence a metre.
