    Hi,

Hopefully this isn't breaking any forum rules. We have a small leak in our Halstead Ace High at the isolation valve.

It's Halstead part number 300562 (22mm ball valve) and is now obsolete. The boiler is otherwise working perfectly fine.

I'm trying to source a spare, it any still exist out there. I've tried numerous places with no luck, so am kind of hoping someone has one on a shelf somewhere.

I'm open to suggestions (I've got a gas certified plumber looking at it, I'm not doing anything myself except hunting).

    Cheers

  3. HHunt, anything special about this valve - will any of Mr Ha's suggestions do the job?

If it's more specialised than this, any chance of a photo of the part?

I suspect that a half-decent plumber will be able to contrive a way around this - perhaps use an adaptor or fitting to allow a 'normal' ball to be used.

IF this is simply a shut-off/isolating valve, then almost certainly a work-around is easily possible. If, tho', it's like a gravity non-return valve, things could be more tricky.

    But - photo please :)

Halstead Ace High, that's a name I haven't heard for a few years now,is this isolation valve at the service connections?
Can't see why you can't use a standard fiull bore ball valve as a replacement.

Sure some old our older gas fitters, 'Dave' will know a way around it.

  5. "...older gas fitters..."

First he'd punch yer lights oot, then he'd fix the valve... :p

DA/KIAB – I’m not sure about the valve to be honest. Other than having a hunt for it, I’m a layman. I’m working just now so can’t post a picture, I’ll get one later.

I had a quick word with the plumber about using standard parts to fix it; his primary concern isn’t that it could be done with another part he says, it’s more related to the space he has to work with and how rigid/space-tight everything is (the boiler is wall mounted, around shin level – in the attic).

    Thanks for the replies, appreciated.

You might be able leave in place & use exsisting nut/olives & just replace isolation valve body.

Thanks KIAB, I'll bear that in mind too.

  9. If a plumber has already looked at it, and if he's any good :)rolleyes:) he would surely have worked out if it was possible to, say, simply fit an extension pipe to where the valve is and position a new ball valve further away from the boiler where access is easier?

I'd have thought that, if there is just enough space beside the boiler to replace the actual valve, there must surely be enough space to connect a pipe there instead?

(Interesting - I tried a surf for that part and came up with identical Q's to yours from many years back! Was that you too?!)

Cheers DA, will mention the re-pipe too.

(Nah, that wasn't me, I've just inherited this boiler....probably the previous owner asking ;))
