Hi, just looking for a bit of help in laying some 300mm sq. handmade terracotta tiles. There's a concrete floor previously laid.

    1. Do I need to use BAL SBR to seal the concrete? And if so, what is the likely coverage. And how long does it need to dry for?

    2. What adhesive would you use? I have a feeling a slower-drying adhesive might be better just in case it goes wrong...

    3. How much tile adhesive will I need?

    Thanks

SBR will soak in within minutes. (50/50 Diluted)

How big an area are you talking about?

Thanks. Diluted with water? Does it need to be freshly applied, or can I do the whole floor with it first before starting the tiling.

    It's 20 sq m.

    Yes dilute with water.

Prime whole floor in one go.

Use a slow set flexible (I tend to use flex for everything's) you'll need about 3 bags, maybe 4. Back butter (like butter on toast) each tile, especially if hand made tiles, they could be slightly warped/twisted.

If raw terracotta, they will need sealing before you grout them, and work clean, so to not get cement on face of tile.
