We just moved into this property and with other issues arising as one does, how do i go about disabling the burglar alarm for good? We dont require it.

The controller is a Texecom Premier

    Thanks

Isolate supply from mains, remove the battery from contol panel, also a battery in the alarm box outside to remove.

Do you know exactly which model it is?

    Premier? Premier Elite? 24? 48?

The first thing to do is to access the panel as an Engineer, which will require a user code too. Then, open the case.

Then instruct the bell box / sounder that it is in "maintenance mode". Then go and remove the sounder unit - there is no way you can do it with it sounding.

Once that is done, remove the battery from it.

Next power down the main unit, and remove the battery.

Safely disconnect power - with the main breaker tripped.

Remove control panel and keypad along with unwanted expanders and sensors. Parcel up and send to me.

Forgot to add - I do have some experience of the Texecom range and access to the various manuals.

Were you left with a set of codes?

And if so, were you told what they were for? Not the actual numbers just the names.

If so, I should be able to take you through disabling and removing teh power side without you splitting your eardrums!

Only one code of which i changed. Not sure about engineers code. Is that normally the same?

No, the engineers code is different. Users do not always know it as it accesses a lot more functionality.

However, an Engineer code will not disable the alarm and will normally need a master user code to approve access.

Ear defenders on, up the ladder and remove battery, job done. :)

Just hate it! It was already installed in the house and we have not put it on or intend to.
