Laying mosaic floor tiles

Hi. Please can you advise on type of trowel & adhesive bed to use when laying 2"x2" mosaic floor tiles, they come on a mesh backing (36 individual tiles). Going onto floorboards covered with Hardiebacker boards all nice and solid. Tiles are porcelain. Was planning on using Bal cement based flex adhesive but not sure how thick etc bed should be ?
