A general question the outside LED lights with just like a square small bulb with a luminous yellow square pretty standard and are everywhere you look. Is it possible to change these? I have a work light which is very similar which is broke Surely must be a way of fixing them.
******** so they just last a few years and you throw them away. That's hilarious plenty of Work for sparks On the other hand.
Yes those sound like the type chippie. Are they easy to fit? It's basically a rechargeable work light but can be plugged in. Yes 12v. Where from chippie?
LED Chips, bought my last one off Ebay, change lamp from warm white to cool white, only had two wires to solder, easy job.
Too much fiddling for me. I use 120W halogen fittings with a 5.5W LED instead of the tube, that way if it does fail I can simply swap the LED. The unit is in fact 24 x 5050 LED's on an alloy back.
Thank KIAB Great Could I not crimp the cables rather than solder with insulated crimps as I don't have solder plus quicker. How do I know which led to buy on EBAY?
Why bother repairing them I got one of these http://www.screwfix.com/p/ae0183-rechargeable-led-work-light-10w-12-240v/1815d Think it was about £22+VAT, battery lasts ages and its quite bright as well, it charges up in the van as we drive and it makes a decent light for the back of the van as well.
That's the exact one I have Peter. Was great but doesn't work I've ordered a bulb. And by the time I buy a solder iron. You may be right but I'll be chuffed if I can get it working. Thanks
Peter just watching a video now and the work light I have should come with a mains lead too I have just been using the battery charger lead. It could be possible just the batteries are gone? I presumed this adaptor was a mains swell. Had it from a old work place. So don't have the mains lead. How would I check
The one I have comes with a mains charger for the battery, however if you try and run it off mains power with a flat battery it only comes on for a couple of seconds and goes out again, you have to let it charge up for a bit first. It seems to run ok when plugged straight into the 12V in the van with the cigarette lighter adapter, maybe the mains charger isn't beefy enough to run it.
This is the mains charger for that lamp, it does say not to run the lamp from the charger I also use this lamp a lot, normally last about 5 hours from a full charge.
Use the cable type mainly for plastering & tilling & found them brilliant (also they don't get hot) the portable lamp is mainly used when plumbing & shining into customers eyes when they try to look too closely at my work
I've tried charging it up for a bit no joy. Must be the bulb then. Better learn how to solder Also the fitting is 10W but previous lamp is 7.5w. New lamp I have bought is 10w I presume that's ok. That don't matter? Thanks for replies
