HI, I have just had to remove a marble fireplace mantle (sides) from my fireplace its probably been in place for 80 odd years, it is constructed of slabs of marble joined by some sort of plaster., with occasional blocks of stone thrown in for good measure.

I now need to re-construct it, what is the best option for sticking it back together ? Would floor tile adhesive (powder mix) be sufficient ?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Orginally it was plaster of paris used to join the sections, but today a lot of peeps use tile adhesive.
If there are fixing to wire sections, then use them, good linky below.
